No sound playback device windows xp

Jan 17, 2011 · Once again, this is Windows XP. I have tried numerous times to listen to the recording on my computer (Windows Media Player) and Audacity with no luck. I have made sure that the correct options have been made. The playback device is the SoundMAX Digital Audio on my computer and then the recording device is the USB audio CODEC.
